The inspiration
One UI challenge was designing within the branding guidelines — using red, black, and white to create a warm, “humanized” career site experience.
Wireframe & Site Schematic
The schematic had to evolve as we gathered more business stakeholder input and incorporated our findings from user testing.

The design system
Atomic Design
I do live for a good design system that’s efficient to update and gives developers specific details and interaction states. In this scenario, the client had a very simple, modern set of colors and branding guidelines. We used a lot of negative space and contrast and depended on imagery to warm up the look and feel.

The design + constraints
While I worked with a developer from my team and a team from the client’s technical side, we had to use a CMS that the client chose. This CMS had quite a few constraints if we wanted to keep everything mobile-optimized, which was a top priority. The biggest value-add then was designing for UI best practices and incorporating user testing feedback.

How it ended up…
I got to be part of the implementation and Design QA process. I decided what part of the designs we could compromise, and what we needed to include for the sake of user experience. It was truly form and function working in tandem. Since we implemented designs on a rigid CMS, the positive side is the client can make content and copy updates easily. We released on time, and the recruiting team was very happy with the end result.
